Dog Training FAQs

Why choose Lee Dog Training?

At Lee Dog Training, we don't believe in quick fixes or confusing training methods.

We teach owners a simple, structured system that builds reliable behaviours through clear communication and consistency.

Whether you're joining us for puppy training, adolescent classes, private lessons or online training, our goal is always the same — to help you build the dog you want while giving you the confidence to continue training for life.


Do I need an assessment before training?

Yes.

All new one-to-one training clients begin with an assessment to ensure the most appropriate training plan.

Online training can be purchased without an assessment.


How long is an in-person assessment?

Our in-person assessments are approximately 30 minutes.


Can I book one-to-one training without an assessment?

No.

Every dog is different, so an assessment is required before beginning private training.


What type of dogs do you train?

We work with puppies, adolescent dogs and adult dogs.

Common training includes:

  • Lead pulling

  • Recall

  • Jumping up

  • Barking

  • Puppy training

  • General obedience

  • Nervous behaviours

  • Reactivity or Aggression 

  • Confidence building


How many lessons will my dog need?

Every dog is different.

Following your assessment, we'll recommend the most appropriate training plan based on your dog's behaviour, your goals and the level of support required.


Do you offer group classes?

Yes.

We currently offer:

  • Puppy Group Training

  • Adolescent Group Training

Spaces are limited and must be booked online.


Do you work with behavioural issues?

Yes.

We work with a wide range of behavioural challenges.

For more complex cases, we recommend an in-person assessment so we can fully understand your dog's behaviour before recommending the best training plan.


Do you use food in training?

Yes.

Food is simply a reward.

We encourage owners to use their dog's normal daily food wherever possible rather than relying on treats.


Do you use hand signals?

No.

We focus on clear verbal communication.

Keeping commands simple helps dogs understand exactly what is expected without unnecessary confusion.


Can children attend training?

Yes.

Children are welcome when accompanied and supervised by an adult.


What should I bring to training?

Please bring:

  • Your dog

  • Flat collar

  • Standard lead

  • Your dog's daily food

  • Poo bags


Do you offer online training?

Yes.

Our online training allows owners to learn at home through structured, easy-to-follow lessons covering puppies, adolescent dogs and adult dogs.


Dog Daycare FAQs

What days and times is daycare open?

Current opening times are shown on our Dog Daycare page.

Please refer to the website for the latest information.


Does my dog need to be neutered?

Yes.

Dogs aged six months and over must be neutered to attend daycare.


Can I just drop my dog off?

No.

Lee Dog Daycare is membership-based.

All dogs must complete a Daycare Assessment before joining.


What age can my puppy attend daycare?

Puppies can attend once they have:

  • Completed a Daycare Assessment

  • Been fully vaccinated


Can puppies stay after six months?

Yes.

Providing they remain suitable for daycare and are neutered from six months onwards.


What happens if my dog doesn't pass the assessment?

Not every dog enjoys or benefits from daycare.

If we feel daycare isn't the right environment, we'll explain why and recommend the most appropriate next step, which may include training.


Do you accept reactive or nervous dogs?

Every dog is assessed individually.

If your dog isn't comfortable or suitable for group daycare, we'll advise you honestly.


Can female dogs attend while in season?

No.

Female dogs in season cannot attend daycare until their season has completely finished.


Do you accept food on-site?

No.

Please feed your dog before or after daycare.


Do you send photos or updates?

We don't send individual updates.

However, we regularly post photos and videos throughout the day on our Facebook and Instagram Stories.


Do you offer overnight boarding?

No.

We only provide daytime daycare.

All dogs must be collected the same day.


How do daycare payments work?

All daycare bookings and payments are completed online in advance.

Bookings are subject to availability.


Dog Grooming FAQs

Who can book grooming?

Everyone.

You do not need to be a daycare client.


How do I book?

All grooming begins by completing our online Grooming Intake Form.

Our groomer will then contact you to arrange your appointment.


Do you groom non-daycare dogs?

Yes.

Our grooming salon is open to all dogs.


How often should my dog be groomed?

This depends on breed, coat type and lifestyle.

Our groomer will happily recommend a suitable grooming schedule for your dog.


How long will my dog's groom take?

Grooming times vary depending on breed, coat condition and the services required.

We'll advise you of an estimated collection time when your appointment is confirmed.


Can I stay while my dog is being groomed?

No.

Most dogs settle much better once their owner has left.


Do you shave double-coated dogs?

No.

We do not shave double-coated breeds including:

  • Golden Retrievers

  • Huskies

  • German Shepherds

  • Collies

Instead, we use appropriate deshedding and coat-care techniques to maintain a healthy coat.
