By booking a grooming appointment, you agree to the full Terms & Conditions listed below.

These policies exist to protect your dog’s welfare and ensure staff safety.

1. Behaviour & Handling

 

 

  • All behavioural issues must be disclosed, including: fear, reactivity, aggression, snapping, biting, muzzle history, or stressful grooming/vet experiences.

  • Abbey and The Scrub Club reserve the right to stop the groom immediately if behaviour poses a safety risk to the dog or staff.

  • If a groom is stopped due to behaviour, the full fee remains payable.

  • Muzzles may be used if required for safety.

 

 

 

 

2. Health & Medical Conditions

 

 

  • You must disclose all medical issues, including:

    heart or breathing problems, seizures, skin conditions, allergies, ear infections, mobility issues, recent surgery or injuries.

  • Undisclosed health concerns discovered during the groom may result in the groom being stopped or altered for welfare reasons.

  • If a groom is stopped due to health concerns, the full fee remains payable.

 

 

 

 

3. Coat Condition & Matting

 

 

  • You agree that the coat information you provide is accurate and honest.

  • Severe matting may require a welfare clip (very short shave for the dog’s wellbeing).

  • Welfare clips:

     

    • are not cosmetic grooms

    • may look uneven or patchy

    • are charged at the full grooming rate

    • may incur additional charges for extra time

     

  • The Scrub Club is not responsible for post-groom irritation, itching, redness, or issues caused by matting or neglected coat maintenance.

 

 

 

 

4. Double-Coated Breeds

 

 

  • Double-coated breeds (e.g. Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Collies, Huskies, German Shepherds) will not be shaved.

  • These breeds may receive:

     

    • Wash & blow dry

    • Brushing

    • Deshedding

     

  • Requests to shave a double coat will be refused.

 

 

 

 

5. Late Arrival, Cancellations & No-Shows

 

 

  • Appointment times are strict.

  • Arriving more than 5 minutes late may result in refusal of service and loss of payment.

  • Same-day cancellations and no-shows forfeit full payment.

  • Rescheduling must occur within the timeframe shown on your confirmation email. Missing this window may result in loss of payment.

 

 

 

 

6. Accuracy of Information

 

 

  • All information you provide—behavioural, health-related, or coat-related—must be complete and accurate.

  • If we discover that information was withheld, minimised, or misleading:

     

    • The groom may be cancelled on arrival or stopped part-way through, and

    • Your payment will be forfeited.

     

 

 

 

 

7. Final Decision Authority

 

 

  • Abbey and The Scrub Club @ Lee Dog Training have full and final authority over all grooming decisions.

  • This includes:

     

    • Whether a groom is safe to proceed

    • What style is achievable

    • When a groom should be stopped

     

  • Decisions are always based on dog welfare and safety, not cosmetic preference.

  • Unsafe or unrealistic requests will be declined.

 

 

 

 

8. Injury & Risk Acknowledgement

 


While every effort is made to ensure safety, grooming carries inherent risks.


By booking, you acknowledge that:

 

  • Minor nicks, irritation, clipper rash, or stress responses may occur.

  • Dogs with matting, sensitive skin, behavioural issues, or medical conditions are at higher risk.

  • The Scrub Club is not liable for complications resulting from:

     

    • Pre-existing conditions

    • Undisclosed issues

    • Matting

    • Behaviour during the groom

     

 

 

 

 

9. Collection Policy

 

 

  • You must be available to collect your dog promptly when contacted.

  • Dogs cannot stay onsite beyond the agreed time unless arranged in advance.

  • Late collection fees may apply.

 

 

 

 

10. Payment Terms

 

 

  • All grooms must be paid online in advance, using our booking system and access code/login.

  • Your appointment is not confirmed until payment is completed.

  • Additional charges (matting, behaviour, drying time, extended handling) must be paid before your dog is collected.

  • Failure to pay outstanding amounts will result in no further bookings being accepted.

 

 

 

 

11. Agreement

 


By booking a grooming appointment at The Scrub Club @ Lee Dog Training, you confirm that:

 

  • You have read and understood these Terms & Conditions.

  • You agree to all policies above.

  • You accept that Abbey and The Scrub Club have full decision-making authority in all grooming matters.

  • You understand that inaccurate information or undisclosed issues may result in cancellation and forfeiture of payment.
